1 dead, another injured in San Pedro shooting
One person was killed and another injured in a shooting in San Pedro on Thursday afternoon, July 3, police said.
At approximately 1:45 p.m., officers arrived at the 2000 block of South Pacific Avenue and discovered two men, ages 19 and 44, suffering from gunshot wounds, Los Angeles Police Department spokesman Officer Jay Chavez said.
The victims had been involved in an altercation with another individual who then produced a firearm and opened fire before fleeing the scene in a vehicle.
The 19‑year‑old victim was pronounced dead at the scene, Chavez said. The 44‑year‑old was transported to a hospital, and his condition was unknown.
