The Anime Expo is eye-catching fun this weekend at LA Convention Center
The Anime Expo at the Los Angeles Convention Center is an annual Fourth of July weekend extravaganza for anime enthusiasts that the producers say is the “largest celebration of Japanese pop culture in North America.”
The website also says you won’t be bored. One look at the expo’s schedule and the venue maps for the long weekend and one would have to agree.
The thousands of fans expected — during the expo’s run from July 3-6 — have cosplay, gaming and interactive exhibits in the convention center’s Entertainment/West Hall. Anime exhibitors (an anime shopping paradise) offer original artwork, fashion and toys in the Exhibit Hall/South Hall.
Fans can also explore and shop in the “Artist Alley” where artwork from amateur and semi-professional artists is for sale, as well as handmade crafts items including clothing and original comics.
The event also offers panel discussions, anime movie premieres, live comedy shows and autograph sessions.
Good to know before you look at the schedule and the admission prices: Some special events at the expo have sold out already. Attending wearing your favorite anime character is fun but not required. Some special events have a minimum age. It could get expensive. For a look at the 2024 Anime Expo: tinyurl.com/4cd8kt43
