Workers rescued after tunnel collapses in Wilmington

Up to 15 workers were initially reported trapped after an industrial tunnel collapsed in Wilmington on Wednesday night. Mayor Karen Bass said around 9:47 p.m. all workers who were trapped “are now out and accounted for.”

More than 100 firefighters responded around 8 p.m. near Figueroa Street and Lomita Boulevard, including members of the urban search and rescue team, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.

No injuries have been confirmed.

Officials haven’t confirmed the depth or diameter of the collapse.
