4.4 earthquake shakes Southern California
A 4.4-magnitude earthquake centered just west of Muscoy, and north of San Bernardino, rattled Southern California at 9:32 a.m. on Thursday, July 31, according to the United States Geological Survey.
It some areas, the movement lasted just a couple of seconds and was gentle. Elsewhere, it went on much longer.
The quake struck 5.3 kilometers below the surface.
